Getting around Ljubljana

The centre of Ljubljana in quite small and can be easily explored on foot.

City buses

In order to use the city bus you need to buy an Urbana City Card available for €2 at the main bus station, newsstands, and self-service machines called Urbanomat. Single journey fare (€1.30) enables free transfers within 90 minutes. More information about Urbana, bus routes.

BicikeLJ bicycle-sharing system

You can ride around Ljubljana using bicycles from BicikeLJ, a self-service rent-a-bike system. Compulsory online registration with the system (fee: €1.00 for one week) must be completed in advance. The first hour of bicycle rental is free of charge. More information.

Taxi

You can easily find a vacant taxi in the centre of Ljubljana. Charges range €0.80–1.50 for the starting fee and €0.70–1.70 per kilometre. Charges are lower when taxis are ordered by phone. More information.

Parking

Ljubljana’s car parks managed by the public utility company are classified into four tariff categories, depending on the distance from the city centre. Parking is also possible at a large number of privately owned parking lots and parking garages. More information.

Kavalir

Short distances within the car-free city centre area can easily be traversed if you hop on an environmentally friendly electric vehicle called Kavalir (“Gallant Helper”).
