Spring School of Slovene Language
Spring School of Slovene Language is an intensive language course lasting half of the academic year. It is the most intense form of learning!

- Classes: Mon–Thu, 9.00–11.45 am

Number of Class Hours*: 200 (10 ECTS)
- 144 hours: in the classroom
- 26 hours: accompanying programme

*1 class hour = 45 minutes

The price includes a language course, learning material and accompanying programme.

Accompanying programme
The accompanying programme includes various activities for learning about Slovene culture and society whose topics complement and broaden the language classes in the classroom. It is held every other Friday.

CULINARY WORKSHOP
Strudel is a traditional dessert that almost every Slovenian grandmother prepares for her family on weekends. You are warmly invited to join our culinary workshop, put on an apron, and enjoy baking your own delicious strudel in a cheerful atmosphere. |

TOUR OF CANKARJEV DOM
Cankarjev dom is the largest Slovenian congress and cultural centre. It was designed by the Slovenian architect Edvard Ravnikar, and its construction took place from 1977 to 1982. The building is named after the Slovenian writer and politician Ivan Cankar, who was active in the early 20th century. During our visit to Cankarjev dom, we will explore its halls and foyers and learn more about the history of the building. |

TRIP TO KAMNIK BY TRAIN
Nestled at the foot of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps north of Ljubljana, Kamnik is considered to be one of the most beautiful medieval towns in Slovenia. An hour long tour will take us through the historical centre and along the Šutna Street to the Mali grad chapel where you will find out who Veronika of Kamnik was. We will find some time for a stress free coffee or further exploring of this charming town. |

EXHIBITION: MASKS: FROM RITUAL TO CARNIVAL
The exhibition shows how the tradition of masking in everyday life and during holidays has changed over time. Various masks, costumes, photographs, and films reveal the rich diversity of Slovenian Carnival and other masking customs. Masks are more than just a disguise, as they give communities a sense of identity, connect people, and preserve both individual and collective memory. After the exhibition, you will also be able to visit the Ethnographic Museum on your own. |

TRIP TO GORENJSKA
Gorenjska is one of the most picturesque regions of Slovenia, and it is especially beautiful in spring. During our trip, we will visit the Zelenci Nature Reserve, where we will see the stunning emerald-green lake, and then continue to the Nordic Centre and the Planica Museum, where we will learn more about the heritage of Slovenian Nordic skiing. |

CLOSING CEREMONY
On the second-to-last day of the course, we will gather together in the Small Hall of the Pionirski dom, look through the photos from the accompanying programme, and award the certificates for the successful completion of the course. |

Scholarships
Members of Slovene ethnic minorities in other countries and descendants of Slovene expatriates and emigrants can apply for the scholarship; applications should reach us before 31 August for the next year. More information and application…
