TOUR OF LJUBLJANA
Ljubljana is considered a medium-sized European city, and although it’s small, it offers everything that large capitals do. The city preserves traces of all periods of its rich history: the legacy of Roman Emona, Renaissance, Baroque, and Secessionist facades, ornate portals, and romantic bridges that adorn the Ljubljanica River. During our walk through the old town, we will visit the main sights of Ljubljana.
24 October, 9:00–18:00
EXCURSION TO THE NOTRANJSKA REGION
This autumn excursion will take us to Notranjska, a land of fascinating castles and intermittent lakes. We will visit the Museum by Lake Cerknica, where we’ll learn why the lake sometimes exists and sometimes disappears. We’ll also explore Snežnik Castle, where we’ll see original furniture, artworks, ceramic stoves, lighting fixtures, carpets, and many other decorative and functional items. In between, we’ll stop for lunch at a local inn.
7 November, 10:00–12:00
VISIT TO PLEČNIK’S HOUSE
During the visit to the house of Jože Plečnik, Slovenia’s greatest architect, we will see well-preserved, valuable rooms with original furnishings and personal items. The exhibition includes clay, plaster, and wooden models of various projects, Plečnik’s personal library, and drawing tools. We’ll also take a walk through the architect’s uniquely designed garden.
21 November, 10:00–12:00
EXHIBITION: MIKI MUSTER
Miki Muster was a Slovenian cartoonist and animator who created unforgettable comic strips that shaped the childhoods of many generations of Slovenians. At the exhibition, we’ll learn more about his life, inspirations, work, and his iconic animated characters.
5 December, 11:00–12:30
WORKSHOP: ORNAMENTS
In this creative workshop, we will be making ornaments in the shape of a golden bird — a typical symbol from Slovenian folk tales representing immortality and love. The workshop will be led by Anja, a creator and illustrator who loves to cut, sew, and glue, turning everything she touches into something beautiful.
18 December, 11:00–11:45
CLOSING CEREMONY
At the end of the course, we’ll look at the photos from the accomnying programme, hand out certificates, and enjoy one last gathering with all participants of the Autumn School.
