Slovene language courses for pupils and parents of migrants

In the academic year 2013/2014, the Centre for Slovene as a Second/Foreign Language at the Department of Slovene Studies of the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana is organising intensive Slovene language courses for young people who would like to learn Slovene as quickly as possible.

In the beginners’ course, participants will become acquainted with basic forms of communication that are necessary for integration in school and in social life, as well as with basic grammar. Participants in the advanced course will learn important terms and phrases used in different school subjects.

Participants will develop all four language skills (speaking, writing, reading and listening) and become acquainted with specially selected or adapted written and spoken texts.

Before beginning the course, participants will carry out a language test, which determines which group they will be taught in.

The Centre for Slovene has been teaching Slovene as a second/foreign language for a number of years and provides good quality teaching material in courses that are suited to the age and prior knowledge of participants, as well as using effective teaching methods.

Courses will be organised in small groups (8–12 participants). Lessons will last 45 minutes each.
