Assoc. Prof. Mojca Nidorfer, PhD, is the head of the Slovene at Foreign Universities unit at the Centre for Slovene as a Second and Foreign Language. She holds a PhD in Slovene linguistics from the University of Ljubljana’s Faculty of Arts and an MBA from the Ljubljana School of Economics and Business.

Her research interests include pragmatic linguistics, discourse theory, genre analysis, and business communication, with a particular focus on email communication. She has participated in several research and EU-funded projects, she regularly presents papers at academic conferences, and she has published her work in Slovene and international journals. She has taught at universities in Prague, Rome, Katowice, Belgrade, Cleveland, Tokyo, and Lisbon, among others.

She actively promotes Slovene linguistic studies and Slovene culture worldwide, notably through her leadership of international projects such as Global Days, which are held as part of the Slovene at Foreign Universities unit. She also (co-)chairs the Science for Youth section of the Association of Slovene Slavic Societies. In 2012, she initiated the national Slovene language competition for primary and secondary schools Slovenščina ima dolg jezik, Književnost na filmu (The Long Slovene Tongue, Literature on Film).

In 2006, she received the Grand Award of the Faculty of Arts and, in 2023, she was awarded the University of Ljubljana Recognition.
