Mateja Eniko, PhD, received a BA in Slovene and comparative literature at the University of Ljubljana’s Faculty of Arts. After graduation, she worked as a Slovene language teaching assistant in Carinthia, Austria, taught Slovene at a secondary school and in an international school programme, and was employed as a researcher and literature teaching assistant at the University of Nova Gorica’s Faculty of Humanities. In 2021, she earned her PhD with a dissertation on Slovene poetry.

Since 2009, she has collaborated with the Centre for Slovene as a Second and Foreign Language on various projects: she has taught Slovene in courses for children, adolescents, and adults, tested teaching materials, authored exam items, and contributed to developing and piloting the Slovene entry-level language exam and to enhancing the Slovene as a Second and Foreign Language programme.

Since 2020, she has been employed full time, and she takes part in the Examination Centre and Slovene for Children and Adolescents activities. She is involved in exam development, conducts examiner training, and contributes to preparing educational programmes and teaching materials (e.g., iČas 1, Objem). She is also active in the Association of Language Testers in Europe (ALTE), particularly within the Language Assessment for Migration and Integration (LAMI) expert group, where she contributed to the development of LLAT tools for migrants.
