Damjana Kern Andoljšek, PhD, completed her BA in Slovene studies and geography at the University of Ljubljana’s Faculty of Arts in 2006 and obtained her PhD in 2016 with the dissertation Ohranjanje identitete s pomočjo učenja slovenščine med Slovenci v Avstriji (Preserving Identity through Learning Slovene among Slovenes in Austria). Since 2007, she has been employed at the Centre for Slovene as a Second and Foreign Language, working in the Slovene for Children and Adolescents unit. She organises and conducts Slovene courses and intensive language weeks for primary and secondary school students from Slovene and bilingual schools abroad, as well as for immigrant students. She is involved in developing teaching and professional materials related to teaching Slovene as a second and foreign language and in training teachers of Slovene as a second and foreign language that teach young children and adolescents in Slovenia and abroad She is the coauthor of several textbooks, handbooks, and other materials for teaching Slovene as a second language.
