The project will provide guidance on the possible roles volunteers can play in the process of language learning, integration and participation in society. Volunteers in language teaching and learning come in different shapes and sizes and they fulfil various roles. For example, they may provide support as language buddies or classroom assistants, act as mentors and run conversation clubs among many other roles.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3>Project VIME produced:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>A model for the use of volunteers in migrant language education, outlining specific roles that volunteers can play and the associated\u00a0competencies\u00a0required\u00a0for these, as well as mechanisms for co-operation between volunteers and professionals.<\/li>\n<li>Screening procedures for language learning providers to assist in finding suitable volunteers.<\/li>\n<li>Training modules that support volunteers in carrying out their specific roles and acquiring the appropriate skills.<\/li>\n<li>A model for creating and developing policy regarding distribution of professional staff and volunteers.<\/li>\n<li>A guide for coordinators, professionals and volunteers on their respective roles, duties and the reciprocity between professionals and volunteers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Project partners\u00a0<\/h3>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\">\n<li>Slovenia: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.upi.si\/portfolio\/volunteers-in-migrant-language-education-roles-and-competences\/\">UPI ljudska univerza \u017dalec<\/a>\u00a0and University of\u00a0Ljubljana, Faculty of arts, Centre for Slovene as a second and\u00a0foreign language.<\/li>\n<li>Denmark: <a href=\"http:\/\/sprogcenter.slagelse.dk\/\">Slagelse Sprogcenter<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Great Britain: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucl.ac.uk\/ioe\">UCL Institute for education<\/a> and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.elatt.org.uk\/\">ELATT Connected Learning<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Netherlands: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uva.nl\/en\/about-the-uva\/organisation\/organisational-structure\/content\/affiliated-institutions\/uva-holding-bv\/itta-uva-bv\/itta-uva-bv.html\">University of Amsterdam, ITTA<\/a>\u00a0(project leader), <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hetbegintmettaal.nl\/\">Het Begint met Taal<\/a> and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rocwb.nl\/\">ROC West-Brabant<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All of the organisations involved have experience of working within migrant education and the use of volunteers.<\/p>\n<p>The project ran for two years: from 1. 10. 2016 to 30. 9. 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Project website:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.languagevolunteers.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/www.languagevolunteers.com<\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>The VIME Toolkit<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/centerslo.si\/za-ucitelje\/za-prostovoljce\/projekt-vime\/orodja\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The toolkit in Slovene<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/centerslo.si\/en\/for-teachers\/for-volunteers\/project-vime\/toolkit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The toolkit in English<\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Past activities<\/h3>\n<p>Last meeting of VIME partners on 6 and 7 September 2018 in Utrecht.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-14209\" src=\"https:\/\/centerslo.si\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/London-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Centre for Slovene as a second or foreign language\u00a0organised a multiplier event in Ljubljana on 22.
