39th Summer School of Slovene Language 2020 Online

The online course is an opportunity for everyone who wishes to learn Slovene from the beginning or refresh and upgrade what they have already learnt. Treat yourself to an excellent course with brilliant teachers of Slovene who have a lot of experience in live online teaching.

For participants from North and South America:

  • Monday, Wednesday and Friday: 4 classes, from 4.00 to 7.30 pm (Slovene time)
  • Tuesday and Thursday: 3 classes, from 4.00 to 6.30 pm (Slovene time)

For other participants:

  • Monday, Wednesday and Friday: 4 classes, from 9.00 am to 12.30 pm (Slovene time)
  • Tuesday and Thursday: 3 classes, from 9.00 to 11.30 am (Slovene time)

During the Summer School we will also arrange a screening of 3 Slovene films with English subtitles.

Course

The course is organized as a videoconference on ZOOM. The online classes are similar to the ones in a regular classroom. Your teacher is going to be with you live, every day for 3 or 4 school hours, and will answer your questions. The teacher will give you various tasks. There will be plenty of opportunities for conversation, phonetic exercises, grammar tasks, reading, listening and writing activities. 

We will send you the textbook via regular mail; you will receive it before the beginning of the course.

IN ORDER TO ATTEND THE ONLINE CLASSES, YOU NEED:

  • a good internet connection,
  • a computer with a camera and a microphone
  • and a quiet room.

Price: EUR 572

The textbook is already included in the price of the course.

In each group there are 5 to 10 students.

  • Certificates

    Certificate of Attendance 

    At the end of the Summer School you will receive an official Certificate of Attendance of a Slovene language course at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ljubljana.

    Credit points

    After successful completion of the course, participants are awarded 3 ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System). 80-percent attendance is required in order to receive a certificate (thus each participant is allowed to be absent for two school days) and a positive result at the final test.

    Certificate of Slovene

    If you want to obtain an official certificate of Slovene you can take the Exam of Slovene at the Basic, Intermediate or Advanced Level carried out by the Examination Centre at the Centre for Slovene as a Second/Foreign Language and other institutions in Slovenia (only the Bacis Level).

  • Participants

    Anyone with an interest in learning Slovene is very welcome. However, participants must be at least 18 years old; younger participants should attend the Youth Summer School.
  • Application

    You can apply for the course with the application form no later than 1 June 2020. Between 15 and 19 June 2020 you will be asked to attend a short online placement interview. We will inform you if we have a group for your level of knowledge no later than 23 June and ask you to make the payment.
